On Point Social evolved as a hobby over three years ago, as I was assisting family and friends with their business’s social media. My background as a visual arts teacher instilled an intuitive tendency to observe and appreciate all things visual! Additionally, I realised, as a customer who frequently uses social media, many businesses weren’t utilising social media channels to their full potential.
Here’s the catalyst: ‘Hangry’ and wanting local takeout….
I was frustrated with an outdated local restaurant’s Facebook Page. Their Facebook page menu featured some delicious looking chicken wings – definitely a family favourite. But to our disappointment, upon ordering over the phone, the restaurant owner explained that he was no longer selling these wings. “Our Facebook Page is not updated”, he added. With no website and an archaic Facebook page, how were they going to keep us informed about their menu and specials?! I wanted to get out there and help businesses get the online social presence they deserved, especially those who were struggling to keep up with it on their own because they were focusing on the core of their business.
